I worked all day yesterday creating and filming projects … two for Chic n Scratch and two for Chic n Clique …. since I reached my goal for the day I decided to reward myself with some sewing/quilting.
I didn’t make a lot of progress …. but I’m happy with the results I have so far.
Here’s the details ….
When I was at Prairie Point Quilt Shop I bought two Fat Quarter bundles of the Ambleside Fabric. My thoughts were ….. I would make a quilt with the first bundle and then offer a quilt along for the 2nd.
I do not have a pattern …. I decided that I will design this one myself and we’ll keep our fingers crossed it turns out okay. My first instinct is to make a Ambleside Jelly Roll Quilt ….but …. I need to learn and grow as a quilter.
The Fat Quarter Bundle included 8 fat quarters of the same fabric line ….. I choose five of them to start with and I cut 5 rectangles that measure 5 x 10 out of each fat quarter.
Next I placed them on my design wall … and proceeded to move them around until I found a pattern I liked.
Next up ….. I need to decide if I want to make the quilt larger … or keep it on the small side. I have enough fabric to add a sixth row … but will I? And I have the other three fat quarters that I could use to make it wider as well … decisions!!
Next … I need to decide what size sashing to use … I could go easy on myself and use a Jelly Roll and I’m leaning towards that. But I wish there were larger precuts because by the time you sew the 2-1/2 strip on … it’s only 2″. I’d like it to be 3″ 🙂
The last decision I need to make is … do I make the sashing larger on the top, bottom and sides? Again the Jelly Roll strips are easy but I would like a big border (like four or five inches).
Here’s the pattern so far …
Brooke and I are headed to our first Royals game of the Season … lets pray the rain and thunderstorms hold off until after the game (and we’re hoping for win!!).
See ya!
p.s. WIP means work in progress

I think you should leave it smaller.
