The only sewing taking place right now is my Layer Cake Quilt Along over on Chic n Clique … so I thought I would share a few pictures of Brooke.
The past weekend she went to Naka-kon here in Overland Park and each day I couldn’t wait to see her outfit. I missed her Saturday costume because I was at the longarm quilting class … and by the time she got home I was asleep.
The picture above was day one … the picture below was day three.
She looks like a doll in that blonde wig!!
I’m amazed at her face … I’ve had freckles since the day I was born … not really but it seems that way .. and I tried everything to remove them (as a child I tried ….. I’ve since realized they ain’t going anywhere).
Brooke has gone to these convention type things for as long as I can remember and I will never forget the first few … every step I took … my mouth was wide open … in shock! I refused to leave her there …. so I hung out in the lobby for hours (and hours)! I should make an album one day of all the pictures I’ve taken!! I even took my sister Kim with me once …. she and I had hours of pure laughter!! I don’t understand the whole world of Naka-kon but I respect that it’s one of Brookes hobbies LOL
She didn’t go as any character this year .. unlike last year when she was a Ninja Turtle (Brooke is in the back on the right side with purple accessories). These girls were very popular last year!!
Now to quilting for just a minute … for whatever reason my coughing returned last night and it was very difficult to sleep …. so I was on my laptop in bed … googling longarm quilting machines. The main reason for my search is I want to know bottom dollar how much money I need …. and in my investigation process I discovered that I can use a quilting Frame with a domesticated sewing machine. Which would save me thousands of dollars ….but … will it create more of a headache and should I just wait?
Before I buy something … I go through a process … I google it ….. I read reviews, I look at the competition and I ask questions from people that have one (yes I’ve sent two emails). We shall see what I discover!!
See ya!
p.s Dave is sick again, Brooke woke up not feeling well, Chase was not feeling well (headache) but he’s okay now … this sickness just will not leave our house … grrrrr

Brooke is so pretty. That sounds similar to Comicon. I know people that are so into that and that’s great. That dress is pretty and the costumes are great. It’s nice to have a hobby, no matter what it is. Hope everyone gets well soon. Do you want a machine so that you can do your own rather than send it out?

Oh I just looked Naka-kon up, it’s more like Anime but I’m sure it’s similar to Comicon too. I took my son one year and it was very interesting. I was excited because I got to meet stars 🙂

I say go for the real deal with a long arm machine, you’ll be much happier with it. They are tougher, faster and ergonomically designed for that type of quilting unlike a regular household sewing machine. Try out several machines if you can. The process of long arm quilting makes full use of your arms, shoulders, etc. I’ve never tried it myself but I could see myself a bit sore at first if I did try it!

My suggestion would be to keep researching the regular long arm quilting machine, if you are going to make the investment. I bet you will be glad you did.
