My Lulu Roses Butterfly Quilt Top is complete and it was delivered to my longarm quilter today. (Sorry bad picture … cloudy day strikes again!!)

This quilt is going to my sister Kim … even though we made her a quilt top when she was here for Thanksgiving. Every quilt I’ve finished …..she asks me if it’s for her (sisters can say things like that to each other) so I figured I’d make her another one …..that way I can move on to the rest of the family without feeling guilty. (I should have kept her quilt top and had it finished …but in my defense I wanted her to catch the bug.)
It’s been a couple weeks since I touched my sewing machine …. I’m having withdrawals for sure!!
I picked up five of my quilts from my longarm quilter today … as soon as the sun comes out and we can get some pictures I’ll start sharing. Three of them are headed out to friends … I’ll be honest and say it’s going to be hard to part with them. I told Shirley today now I know what quilters hoard their quilts … they’re just so precious …. it’s hard to part with them … LOL
Business wise … I had a good weekend and was able to get lots of things done … but the sore throat reappeared today and I got very little accomplished (and now Chase and Dave are sick).
I started the Layer Cake Quilt Along on Chic n Clique and I posted Video #3 today … the next video should be posted later this week … I’m giving everyone plenty of time to do their homework. If all goes well that means I’ll get to turn on my sewing machine later this week.
I’m headed upstairs for my bath and then bed …. See ya!

I guess i never saw who won the Quilting quilt alongs & didn’t know it had actually started. The drawing was supposed to be 3/1 & I thought I had subscribed to the blog so I would know.

Hi Angie,
Beautiful quilt. I have a question, what did you mean that your squares aren’t the same size? I have the accu square die and I just assumed it was a perfect square even though it is lop sided on the block. Is your square like that?
I just cut some fabric and laid it on the block and cut it out. When I was seeing my rows together some of my blocks aren’t lined up but it’s not too bad. Off by less than a quarter inch. I think I may have stretched my fabric as I was sewing the blocks together. Is there a special way to use the die?
Thanks and have a nice day.

Lesa, I called accuquilt with the very same problem and they said the the salvage side of the fabric needs to be on the same side as the label on the die and it needs to feed through the machine with the label facing the right side (I need to label my machine and die to remind myself of that).
But if you use a Layer Cake …. how do you determine the salvage side?
I’ll admit this part of quilting is the most confusing and I’ll just accept that some of my quilt seems do not line up perfectly. (Maybe I’ll catch on … one day .. it only took me two years to finally be able to say the word photopolymer …LOL).

Thanks for the info .I will label mine. So I will have to make sure my squares stay the same way as I cut them.
Your quilts are beautiful.

Hi Angie,
How did you find the your long arm quilter? I would love to follow along with your quilt along but, not sure what to do with it after I have the quilt top done. Thanks
Mindy

hi Mindy,
I found my longarm quilter by going to one of our local quilt shops and asking them who they recommend. They gave me a handful of cards …. but said Shirley was awesome.
Turns out one of my stamp club members had used Shirley for years … it was meant to be.
If you don’t have a local quilt shop …. there are some choices online … but they can be more expensive.
Or the other option is Shirley my longarm quilter can do it … you would need to call her and get the details … shipping, price ..etc.
But if you can find local …. it’s best only because you never know with the postal service!!!

Really pretty, I like the way you arranged the colors! I’m looking for a local long arm quilter to get me to finally make a quilt. I have a handful of blocks made when I was trying out the retired flower die and block technique.
