Rows are complete

December 8, 2014 by Angie 2 Comments

Over the weekend I managed to get all the rows sewn.

Next up ….ironing the seams and then stitching all the rows together.

I need to find my long arm quilters phone number ….. I hope she has time to get it done before Brooke moves out!

By the way …… I made this post on my iPhone …. The picture may be too large?  If it is I’ll correct it tomorrow.

See ya later!

Butterfly Stitching

Butterfly-Stitching

My picture today is the three tests I did to decide which stitching to use around the butterflies.

I started with the chocolate zig zag because my old butterfly quilt has black (hand stitched) zig zags around all the butterflies.

The quilt was given to me by my boss when I moved to Nashville …. in my early 20’s (it’s too worn to share a picture).  Brooke has ask me for it …. for years!!  My answer has always been I’ll make you one 🙂

I have always loved quilts and I remember my grandmother and aunts making their blocks  ……I never got one of their quilts …  but I remember admiring them!

Every time I saw my aunt  Ima Jean she would show me her latest blocks …. how I wish I had taken the time to learn back then!  (I had too much energy and was always on the go!!)  I think it’s safe to say they would all be proud of me (even though my stuff is super simple).

So … back to the butterflies  … I decided to go with the simple and classic stitching  ….  even though Brooke loves my old butterfly quilt with the zig zag … she loves it because of the smell and the feel.

I’ve had a whopper of a headache for several days (and extreme fatigue) and the only thing that doesn’t make my head hurt worse is sewing (the machine is really quite) … if you know me you already know I simply can not just do nothing … there are so many things I love to do and doing nothing is torture!!!

I had someone ask me if this blog is about quilting … to be honest  … I like to write and I have zero plans ….what ever I’m doing at the moment is what I’ll share.    I guess you could almost call it my journal.      Brooke is moving out in January and I’m on a mission to get her quilt done so that she can take it with her … hence the reason why most of my posts have been about the quilt.

Next month is could be about something totally different (food, oils, Miss Bella, etc).

Gotta run .. see ya!

p.s. I just re-read this blog post and it’s all over the place … I know it and yet I’ll post it anyway.  We’ll blame it on my whopper headache!!

One Million in Sales

December 3, 2014 by Angie Leave a Comment

I’ll be honest and say it feels a little weird tooting my own horn …. but … it also feels weird hiding it under a rug.

So, here it goes … Stampin’ Up! announced my One Million in career sales on Cyber Monday. How fitting that it was posted on a day that has meaning to me (because I’ve been what you call an Online Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator).

For several years I was just known as Chic n Scratch …but I’ve gotten much better at saying I’m Angie … although I agree saying chickenscratch sounds better!

The Stampin’ Up! Catalog Kickoff for demonstrators is tonight … I can’t wait to see the Sale-a-bration and Occasions Catalog!!  And I can’t wait to place my demo order on December 5th.

It’s going to be a very expensive day because we’re also picking out our season tickets for the Kansas Royals (2015 season).

See ya!

Brooke’s Butterflies

Brookes-butterflies

The butterflies for Brooke’s quilt have been cut … next up … the fabric squares.

I need to decide if I’m going to do 8″ squares … or 10 inches.  If I use 10″ … we can make the 80 Block Quilt bigger ….. without having to add more blocks.

The next couple days will be super busy and it may take me til the weekend to get them all cut.

See ya!

p.s. Click here  for the name of the die I used the cut the butterflies.
