B Block … sew one white rectangle that measures 4-1/2 x 8-1/2 to two rectangles that measure 2-1/2 x 4-1/2.  Press the seams to the dark side and then sew a 4-1/2 x 12-1/2 rectangle to the left and right side.  Press seams to dark side.

Frame Quilt – Quilt Along

May 5, 2018 by Angie 4 Comments

To make the Frame Quilt you will need the following:

  • 1 yard of three patterns of fabric
  • 1/2 yard of two patterns of fabric
  • 1 yard of matching solid fabric or a Layer Cake (15 pieces)
  • Backing Fabric – 4 yards (more if you make a larger quilt)
  • Binding Fabric – 1/2 yard
  • Matching Thread
  • I will have my quilt finished by my longarm quilter and she provides the batting.
  • Basic Sewing supplies (scissors, sewing machine, etc)

The Fabric I’m using is:  Habitat by Michele D’Amore for Benartex

It’s a fabric that I’ve had a long time!  The solid blue fabric didn’t have a name on the salvage and I’ve also had it for several years.

Here’s Video #1 … if you’re reading this in your email box, click here to watch the video on my blog.

First Quilt in 2018

January 14, 2018 by Angie 10 Comments

Happy New Year!!

I can’t  believe it’s been five months since my last post.   I could go into all the crazy things that were thrown my way but I guess this is the new normal.  Our life, crazy busy all the time.  Which leads me to why I haven’t made a quilt in months.

Every day I say to myself “if I get everything on my to do list complete (work related) … I will play with some fabric“.   Well, that isn’t going to happen.  As hard as I’ve tried … I’ve set unrealistic expectations!!

So, each week I’m going to carve out some Angie time and no matter what email I get or comment thrown my way … I’m going to take a mental break.  We can call it “Angie time”  or “playing with fabric time”.

It’s not that I don’t still love stamping, I do, but if I try to stamp for pure joy … it brings me back to what I should be doing for work.   I’m not sure why I feel so guilty for not working 24/7 but I do.

So, does this all mean I’ll have more quilting videos in 2018 … I’m not sure.  I’m taking it day by day and I’d like to say yes … but, Chase proposed to Jessica and it looks like we’ll be having a wedding this year.  I’m very excited and also freaking out!!

Here’s the fabric for the next quilt (Riley Blake, Lucky Star by Zoe Pearn Designs)… all cut and ready to sew!

I was going to film the making of this one …but it’s a gift and I need to get it made sooner rather than later so I’ve chosen another pattern of fabric to film the making.

Have a great day!!
