I usually post my picture at the top and then tell you the story.
But today I’m doing it in reverse … because you have to hear the story.
I was all sure of myself that I had a fix to the quilt I thought was going to be brilliant.
Turns out it’s not so brilliant and I’m going to enlist help … but that’s not the story.
The story is ….. I was sewing, cutting fabric and watching the Royals game …. all at the same time.
And let me just say … Monday nights game was like watching the Playoffs ….. I literally was screaming and yelling … Chase had to remind me that he had company over …but what can I say I LOVE baseball and Monday night was one those games you’ll never forget!
Back to the quilt …..
I ran out of cream squares … so I cut more and got back to sewing …. I did not realize I had picked up the wrong fabric …until the quilt was completely done.
I’m not sure which family member will get this one …maybe I should keep it for myself to remind me of the Royals game.
When I posted it on Facebook someone had a great suggestion …. that I could just add some more lighter squares … making it look like it was on purpose. But … I’ve already bought the binding fabric and backing fabric … if I make it bigger … I’ll need to buy more fabric.
So … I’m going to leave it … and either give it to a nephew … or keep it for myself 🙂
You can never have too many quilts!!
See ya!

This sounds like something I would do, except I would have been watching the SF Giants. I had to rip out many seams last year when they were in the playoffs. 😉

Like the design of the quilt — could be done with so many color combinations. This would be a good “go to” quilt. You could say you did the color change on purpose — it is, after all, your own design. I am a big football fan — San Francisco 49rs can do no wrong. I get caught up in the game the same as you do with baseball — my cat runs out of the room when I scream and yell with excitement.

Great story and beautiful quilt. Go ahead and give it to your nephew and tell him the two different colors are so he always knows which is the bottom section to put at the bottom of the bed.

I’ve made FAR worse mistakes than that with quilting when I was paying attention and had no distractions! It’s beautiful and most would think it was just a dye lot issue if they even noticed.

Angie you inspired me to start a quilt and have so far made three. In this quilt you have just finished I see your quilt as steps that sometime we take the wrong one or we take the right one and takes us to a different journey. You did not make a mistake just think of taking a step to a new journey-a beginning of an event or a memory. Hope this helps. As one of your other follower said I would give my right arm for one of your creations. It would be priceless!!!
