I started this project because I was looking for a gift to make my Chics Paper Ink downline that attend On Stage in November. I was thinking of buying something on Etsy… but, after searching for the perfect gift…it hit me I could just make my own gifts … especially if I start early!!
Next I needed to figure out how to make them…. I searched online, looked through magazines and after five attempts I finally have it down. I hope you enjoy the tutorial and if there’s anything you don’t understand please let me know.
This is a Fat Quarter friendly project and I can’t wait to make more!!
Have a great day!!
p.s. Miss Bella and Elvis are doing great! Elvis has officially learned how to do the wolf whistle and we are cracking up at how often he does it!! We haven’t introduced Skittles to Elvis yet… but we are thinking very soon. We just want to make sure Elvis is 100 percent comfortable before we introduce them.

This is Awesome!!! Thank you Angie. I have some material and composition books–I think I will get going for some gifts for Mother’s Day.

Love it! I’ll be making at least 2.
Also, how would you size this down for the mini = composition books? Just relearning how to sew and I don’t have size changing down too well yet.
Thanks!
Connie

that is a good question … I will try to figure it out … but it may take me a few months! When making the regular size I watched several tutorials and read instructions before I managed to come up with one that worked. I’m not sure if it was me or the instructions … you know what I mean? Thanks Connie!!

Did you have any luck doing a mini composition cover? I would really love it and I could then have 1 for game info for specific video games, a few different ones for me for various types of sewing projects. I have many more ideas but I need the basics to get going on that. I’m hoping to use several as gifts for my son and for my sister. Any help you can find would be truly appreciated. Thank you!

I can try to figure it out … can you tell me the size of the mini composition notebook?

I too, have looked and looked for a diy sewn composition notebook cover and yours, by far is the most easy to understand and not complicated. Thank you!

Your instructions for the composition book-cover are by far the best I’ve come across. You have the clearest of instructions, to the point and uncomplicated! Thank you for sharing such an informative tutorial both on your blog and with the video. I’ve viewed others but was often left confused, but no more thanks to you. Excellent tutorial, thank you for sharing. Brenda (in Texas 🙂

Thanks for this. I am just learning to see and looking for useful, easy projects. I am wondering if I can make the inside pockets bigger so they cover more of the inside cover. Is there anything I need to consider other than expanding the width of the small pieces to match the width of the cover?
