Lulu Roses Quilt Top Complete

February 11, 2015 by Angie 2 Comments

The Lulu Roses Quilt top is ready for the longarm quilter.

I’ll give you some of the details now ….but I’ll post the rest of the details later …

I’ve had two ladies ask if I was going to film a video on how to make this quilt … the answer is I’d be happy to ….but ….. this quilt measures 66 x 75 and to be honest I prefer making smaller quilts.  So, I’ll rework my blocks and come up with a smaller size…. it will be the same … just a tad smaller (to make it larger all you do is add more blocks).

  • I used 8 patterns of Fabric … with one White Jelly Row (could be more .. I made some tweaks along the way).
  • It’s 8 rows across … 9 rows down for a total of 72 blocks that measure 6-1/2 x 6-1/2 (plus the extra strips that measure 2-1/2 x 6-1/2).
  • I used 6-1/2 x 6-1/2 squares …cut with the AccuQuilt 6-1/2 square die.
  • For the sashing I sewed two jelly roll strips together (for a total of 88 inches … I trimmed the extra).

After making this quilt I’ve decided that I really like making quick and easy quilts and although this quilt was easy …. it was not as quick as I would have liked!!  My next quilt will be something really quick … like maybe another flower or butterfly quilt.

I’ll try to take a better picture tomorrow …. if you don’t see it …. you’ll know I was unsuccessful and I’ll be looking for a way to take a picture of larger quilt.

FYI …  the Raskog cart from Ikea is on sale this week for $29.99 … I’m headed over there tomorrow to buy two more for the lake house!!

See ya!

p.s. thanks for all the kind words about my health and for leaving comments!!! I read every single one of them … usually twice.  I don’t always comment …. but I really enjoy reading them.  Thank YOU!!!

This turned out really nice. Each new quilt you show us, I want to make, too. I am hoping to begin my first jelly roll quilt tomorrow. I had hoped earlier, but Valentine’s Day stuff took a little longer than I expected. Looking forward to the next quilt you show us.

    Hi Angie,
The quilt is absolutely beautiful. Love the white strips.
Do you have the cutting machine for cutting fabric?
I got one two years ago and haven’t used it yet. seeing all these quilts being made I went to JoAnns and decided to get the long cutting strip pad so I can make my own jelly roll.
Thanks for the inspiration. I needed to put the machine to use. After all that’s what I bought for. Have a good evening and I hope you are feeling better.
