What to pack for a Sew Day

July 14, 2017 by Angie 4 Comments

What to pack for a Sew Day …

I’m going to my very first sew day tomorrow and I’m super excited … but also terrified that I will forget something.

I’ll start this list and update it after the event!  Once I know exactly what I’ll need …. I’ll create a nice PDF with a checklist to make it easier for all of us!

Sewing Supplies

  • Sewing Machine
  • Power Cord and Foot Pedal
  • Presser Feet
  • Needles
  • Thread
  • Scissors
  • Bobbins
  • Rotary Cutter
  • Extra Blades for Rotary Cutter
  • Cutting Mat
  • Rulers of all shapes and sizes
  • Extension Cord
  • Iron
  • Starch
  • Portable Light
  • Chair Cushion
  • Sharpie
  • Pen and Paper
  • Portable Ironing Pad/Table
  • Seam Ripper
  • Sewing Projects (3 or 4 and a mindless one is helpful)
  • Instructions for Sewing Projects
  • Machine Oil
  • Screwdriver
  • Fabric Scraps
  • Tweezers
  • Pin Cushion
  • Pins
  • Measuring Tape
  • Tape
  • Ziploc Bags

Electronics

  • iPad (or laptop)
  • Cell Phone + Charger

Personal

  • Sweater or Jacket
  • Glasses (readers … take 2 pair just in case)
  • Gum
  • Medicine
  • Hand Lotion
  • Cuticle Cream
  • Tissues
  • Water
  • Snacks
  • Lint Brush
  • Band-aids
  • Cash
  • Camera
  • Comfy Shoes

If you have something you would like for me to add to the list, let me know!

Here’s the fabric I have planned for project #1 tomorrow…. Bugsy by Christine Sharp & Rachel Wright

My project needs 5 – one yard pieces of fabric …. plus some white.  I’ll share more details about the project after sew day.

I’m not sure what my 2nd and 3rd project will be … I’ve been down with a headache all week and I’m behind on everything!! My house is a disaster and don’t get me started on how behind I am with work.  And we have NO FOOD in the house … I’m hoping Dave caves and goes shopping today (and that he cooks dinner too).   I’m telling myself that when August arrives things will get back to normal (as we have another trip coming up in a couple weeks).

See ya!

I like to have a marking pen (fusion, chalk, etc) for triangles, etc. Sew days are the best. I hope you get a lot accomplished. Have fun!

Don’t forget Advil or whatever you take for your headache. (Is this included as part of your medicine?)

Is a Sew Day like going to a cardmaking class, but for sewing? That is lots to lug–a sewing machine! I am not a sewer, so IDK if they weigh a ton or not; likely in 2017 not, but my grandmother’s sewing machine that I own weighs a ton! I hope you have a grand time and are able to relax and get some projects complete and return a refreshed, renewed woman! I used to host scrapbooking weekends and loved them. I am guessing this is the same type of thing! Enjoy your time at Sewing Day!
