Chic n Scratch Quilt Along

September 28, 2015 by Angie 2 Comments

CNS Quilt Along

Okay, it’s official … the next Quilt Along is the Double Slice Layer Cake.

I’ve created a Chic n Scratch Quilt Along  Facebook group for you to ask questions … if you are not on Facebook … please do not worry … you are welcome to post your questions here on this blog.

All the videos and instructions will be posted on this site.  The Facebook group is just to make it easier to ask questions and to share pictures.

Here’s the details:

All the videos will be posted here on Angiejuda.com.   When the series is over I’ll post it on Chic n Scratch …but not until all the videos are complete.

The only info I don’t have for you is a date.  I need a couple more days to get caught up from being out of town and then I’ll take a look at my calendar.

In the meantime … if you want to get an early start .. here’s what you’ll need:

  • One Layer Cake (preferably by Moda Fabric) just saying .. all fabric is not make equal!
  • A Layer Cake is 42 squares that measure 10 x 10 if you want to cut your fabric …but I’ll warn you the Layer Cakes have a lot of different patterns .. in fact there are only a few repeats.
  • Matching Thread
  • 4-1/2 Yards of backing fabric
  • 1/2 Yard of Binding Fabric
  • Batting if your longarm quilter does not provide it.
  • Rotary Cutter
  • Ruler Grid
  • Seam Ripper (for just in case)
  • Sewing Machine
  • 1/4 Foot with Guide
  • Cutting Mat
  • Iron and ironing board or pad
  • If you do not have a long arm quilter to finish your quilt …. please call or visit your local fabric store and ask them.  They usually will have several business cards of local ladies that offer long arm quilting.

Thanks for the comments and emails on my question regarding the Quilt Along!

See ya!

Double Slice Layer Cake Quilt

The Hello Darling Layer Cake was made into the Double Slice Layer Cake Quilt.

Double-Slice-Layer-Cake-Quilta

It measures 53 x 63.

I’ll need 4-1/2 yards of backing fabric and 1/2 yard of binding fabric and then I’ll take it to my long arm quilter.

If you look real closely … you will find I made a mistake.   In my defense it was the first Double Slice Layer Cake Quilt I’ve made and I had no clue how many blocks went across and down … I figured out the hard way it should have been 6 blocks across and 7 down.

Question for you today ….

Would you be interested in participating in my Double Slice Layer Cake Quilt Along (it’s free)?    Let me know your thoughts!

See ya~

Hello Darling Layer Cake

My next quilt top is going to be made with this Hello Darling Layer Cake.

I bought this layer cake in St George, Utah and when I was in the store I ask them if they knew of an easy quilt to make with just one Layer Cake.   The salesperson didn’t know of one ….but she allowed me to sit down and find a pattern online.

I was going to work on it in Utah …but time got away from me.

So, I’m going to start it today.

I worked all week trying to get caught up from being out of town and I’m just too exhausted to do anything else … so I’m going to park myself at the dining room table and see how much I can get done.

Wish me luck!

See ya ~

Kansas City Royals

Take the Crown 2015

I’m happy to report that the Kansas City Royals are the 2015 American League Central Division Champions.

This time last year is technically when I got hooked on the Royals.

I’ve always been a die hard Braves fan …but last year the Royals won me over.  How could I not considering how well they were doing?  But it wasn’t just about the winning it was about the players and their attitudes.

We attended one World Series game last year … on the day I actually reached my One Million in sales with Stampin’ Up! (the game was just one of the ways I celebrated that milestone).

I decided during Post Season that unless the coach traded all our players …we were going to be a great team in 2015  … so I bought Season Tickets (only a quarter of a season).

It has been great for our family!!!   We like everyone else is super busy and having those seats has given us another reason to spend time together.   In addition to that … Brooke is officially a baseball fan …. (Chase and Dave like baseball …but they are not as passionate … Brooke and I on the other hand .. we scream, yell and holler).

I can’t wait for the Post Season to begin!!

Dave and I are going tonight ….  it’s our last regular season ticket (yes, we bought the Post Season tickets … it only cost an arm and a leg).

See ya!
