Play Date Quilt Top Complete

April 13, 2015 by Angie 3 Comments

I’m happy to say the Play Date Quilt Top is ready for the longarm quilter.

It measures 45 x 55 and I love all the white!

I filmed videos on Saturday (all day) for Chic n Scratch and Chic n Clique … and that night I went back to my sewing machine to wrap up the quilt.

I will admit … I messed up … somewhere along the way … row one was longer than the rest … or vice versa …. so I had to trim it.   I looked for my mistake for a while ….. but gave up trying to figure out where I went wrong.  Once it’s quilted … the mistake will be hard to find!

This was my warm up quilt …the next one will be easier.

Don’t look at the picture too closely …. I still need to press it!

Today is Brooke’s 21st Birthday  … it’s hard to believe the baby of the house is 21!!  We took her to brunch at First Watch and this evening she wants to go to Red Lobster and have a big bowl of mussels.

See ya!

Play Date Quilt Work in Progress

April 11, 2015 by Angie 3 Comments

The pictures I’m sharing with you today are of my latest quilt.

Before I go into the details …. let me explain why it’s a baby quilt.

I have made a lot of quilts and I have two what I like to call my  ….. Go to Quilts:

  1. Flower Quilt
  2. Jelly Roll Quilt

I’m ready to find a new quick and easy quilt that I can add to my list of Go to Quilts.

For me a Go to Quilt means I can whip it out with very little thought process …. mainly because by the time I finally get to quilt I’ve worked a full day and I’m too tired to think.

So, I dropped off two quilts to Shirley yesterday and since the fabric store is right down the road ….. I had to swing by and buy something!

As I was shopping … I saw two quilts that caught my eye … and both of them said “Kit Available” …. but do you also remember that I’ve bought a ton of quilt kits and to this day I’ve never made a one?   Well, I decided that the kit to make the baby quilt was one that looked like I could whip it out super fast … making it possibly a Go to Quilt.

I left the store with two kits ….. along with other fabric you will see soon!

By the time I got home I was to tired to do much of anything … so I sat down and tried to read the instructions…. I am determined  to make this quilt!!!

But …. I tried to read the instructions was the key word/sentence!!  I swear my brain does not work like normal people!!   I moaned and groaned for a while … ask Brooke to look at it …. then I turned it over and decided to just look at the picture and just start cutting.  I also got out a piece of paper and wrote down how many rectangles I needed, how many squares and how many white rectangles (making it easier to cut).

The picture below is my work in progress.

Next up … ironing the rows and then the Sashing.

Between you and I … I love the look of sashing ….. but I hate cutting the fabric for it because I need 50″ strips and for me that’s not an easy piece of fabric to cut.   I tried to use a Jelly Roll but it’s a different color of white.  Later tonight … or tomorrow I’ll tackle cutting the sashing.

Long story short … the only reason I’m making a baby quilt is because that was the fabric in the kit.  LOL

It’s super cute and I guess I’ll save it for one of my future grandchildren (I believe I’ve already mentioned that I plan on making future grandchildren quilts this year).

Before I forget … the fabric is Play Date by David Walker for Free Spirit and I bought it one of our local quilt shops here in Kansas (Prairie Point).

See ya!

LOL Jelly Roll

My picture today is the next Jelly Roll Quilt I’m making.

Our niece and nephew spent last weekend with us and I let Isabelle pick out the fabric she wanted for her Jelly Roll Quilt.

She choose the LOL by Me & My Sisters Designs for Moda Fabric.

I had bought it at one of our local quilt shops and I was happy she choose this one because it’s very bright and cheerful.

Personal stuff (aka health update) …instead of retyping it here … I’ve updated my health page with all the details, click here.

I still have a sore throat and my tummy does not like what I’ve eaten after my tests so I’ll leave you for now … See ya!
