Layer Cake Quilt Complete

January 10, 2015 by Angie 4 Comments

The next time you see this quilt ….. it will be complete.

I finished sewing the rows together  …. completing the quilt top.  The backing fabric arrived today and it’s ready for the long arm quilter.

Daddy’s birthday is in March ….. it should be ready in plenty of time.

When I make the next Layer Cake Quilt …. I will try making it 6 Blocks across and 7 down.  This one is 5 blocks across and 8 down … making it narrow and long.  After I change it … I may decide to keep it 8 blocks down and just add a few blocks across…. maybe going from 5 to 7.  But when we do that … it will take more than one Layer Cake.

The next picture I’m sharing today is of our breakfast room … it’s decorated for one of Brooke’s friends.  We’re having her birthday party at our house and they’ve been working on it since yesterday.  They’ve done a great job!!  The only help they got from me was I removed all my stuff and I cleaned (yes that means we moved my office back down to the basement … as well as all my sewing stuff … insert sad face!)

The party is officially taking place at this moment … Miss Bella and I are in bed.

See ya!

Angie, OMG, that quilt is awesome. Will I ever get to that point?
Today I am going to start sewing the 5 petal flowers on the blocks and then
Sew the blocks together. Your videos have helped so much.
I keep going back to them over and over again.
The long arm I contacted will take the quilt and put on the batting and do the quilting and finish everything up. She charges 2 cents an inch. That includes
Everything. All I do is hand over the quilt top. I think that’s a pretty good deal.
    Take care and Happy Quilting.
PS: Hope your health issues are rectificied real soon. In my prayers.

Thanks Linda! I agree I love handing over my quilt top to the long arm quilter and calling it done 🙂
