It only took 2 years!

May 23, 2017 by Angie 3 Comments

My post today is one of happiness!!

I’ve been looking for a night stand for our lake house for almost two years!!!

I need one that’s tall, here’s why …

  • Our iron bed is tall (bought it on ebay) and our mattress is thick.
  • I need it to hold stuff …. like books and knick knacks.

Today I found this on the Antique Farm House website and I snatched it up quickly!!

It says it’s 30″ tall … which is the perfect height!   Now I’ll be counting the day until it arrives.

Remember the picture below?  … that little metal cabinet is also from the Antique Farm House.   And it fits perfectly in that location!!

The picture above shows a night stand …. but …. that piece belongs in our every day house and I want it back!

See ya later!

    • Place pattern fabric on top of the Muslin, right side facing up.

I started this project because I was looking for a gift to make my Chics Paper Ink downline that attend On Stage in November.  I was thinking of buying something on Etsy… but, after searching for the perfect gift…it hit me I could just make my own gifts … especially if I start early!!

Next I needed to figure out how to make them…. I searched online, looked through magazines and after five attempts I finally have it down.  I hope you enjoy the tutorial and if there’s anything you don’t understand please let me know.

This is a Fat Quarter friendly project and I can’t wait to make more!!

Have a great day!!

p.s.  Miss Bella and Elvis are doing great!  Elvis has officially learned  how to do the wolf whistle and we are cracking up at how often he does it!!   We haven’t introduced Skittles to Elvis yet… but we are thinking very soon.  We just want to make sure Elvis is 100 percent comfortable before we introduce them.

Day 3 with Elvis

March 20, 2017 by Angie 1 Comment

Elvis is doing great and he likes my shoulder… YAY!

He finally ate some seed from his food bowl last night (he ate a few bites of spray millet from my hand before that).  Chase came over to meet him and as we were all admiring his beauty … he started eating.

And today … he took his first drink of water.  Thank goodness because I was about ready to dunk his beak in (not really but I was getting worried).

So, it’s official he’s doing well and adjusting!  We did the math today and he’s only 10 weeks old, he’ll be 11 this week … poor little guy!  But, we love him to pieces and he’ll know that soon enough!

Remember that Quilt Along I keep promising for 1st quarter?  Don’t shoot me but I’m getting down to the wire and I’m just not sure. I’m still going to try!!!

Have a great night!

Meet Elvis

March 19, 2017 by Angie 4 Comments

Baby Elvis has arrived!  or as my sister and I like to say “Elvis is in the building” 🙂

I LOVE him to pieces and words can not describe how Brooke and I feel!!

Brooke keeps reminding me … he’s her bird … but I can’t help myself. He’s just so darling!

I keep going up to her room sneaking in some hugs (while she’s at work).  I’ll share a picture that I can’t share on Facebook (she sees my post over there but she never looks at my blog).  Or maybe I will later when she has chilled out!

He’s on my shoulder hiding in my hair.

The next picture is the very first picture I took … in the pet carrier, in my car, in the airport parking lot.   This is exactly how we got Miss Bella, but we were so excited pictures didn’t happen :O

He sang to me just a little on the car ride home (he heard me talking on my phone with my sister).  He hasn’t sung since, but I’m sure he will.

The last picture is of when I got home and tried to take him out of the cage … he decided to stay in there for about three more hours. Sorry blurry pic but it was impossible to get a clear shot and not freak him out.

Now for the rest of the story…. I ALWAYS have a story!

I got to the Air Cargo office 20 minutes early (maybe even 30) and I sat in my car and watched as his flight landed (on my phone).

Five minutes before it was to arrive I went to the front door … there was a notice that they had moved.   So, I jumped in my car and rushed to the new office.  And what do I see …  they closed at 5:30 and it was 5:55.   I knocked and rang the buzzer and by this time I was FREAKING OUT.  Of course I started crying and called Dave to help me, what was I to do?  Could  he call the airport and find out where my baby bird was?

Then it occurred to me to call the breeder (Brandon), he was very calm and said just go to the real airport and go to Baggage Claim.  Off I went again!  When I approached the baggage claim office … all I can say is “if you hate your job, go find a new one”.  We’ll leave it at that!!!

We had a 45 minute drive home and it was just like the day I got Bella, it felt like it took hours!!

So, that’s my story 🙂

He slept well last night but still hasn’t eaten so I’m signing off and heading upstairs to see if I can get him to eat.

Have a great day!!

p.s. I’m sorry I was snarky about the baggage claim dude, I have zero patience for ill mannered people …. I am from the south 🙂
