Picture of the Day #47

February 16, 2017 by Angie 5 Comments

Picture of the Day #47 is the Log Cabin Quilt Block… I was going to start.

I’ve had this on my dining room table for over a week and I’m stuck!

I knew I was going to struggle with not planning each and every block … but … I’m having a hard time seeing that the end result will look the way I want it to look!

I think my problem is … there isn’t enough variety in the patterns of fabric.  After comparing it to the first quilt I made … I have fewer choices … which forces me to use the same colors and patterns on every single block.

Unfortunately this is how I learn … by trial and error!

I’ve already cut all my fabric ….. grrrr …. so, I’m waiting for a light bulb moment on how I can change it.

One idea I may try is to ditch the Vanilla 5″ charm in the middle and use a Charm Pack of the same fabric … and ditch the Vanilla/cream sashing.  Or I could buy a chocolate/brown charm pack and use it in the middle.

Sounds  like a lot of thinking …. so maybe I’ll wait on this fabric.  I do really like the fabric …. but there’s no rush on this one since it was just going to be another test quilt 🙂

Have a good night!

p.s I have my next weigh in tomorrow  …. wish me luck!  I haven’t cheated on my diet,  but …. I always fear the scale!!!

Suggestion, move the vanilla piece away from the vanilla center, maybe move the blue elephant piece where the vanilla ark piece is. 🙂

Get rid of the white and replace it with a square piece of the striped piece on the end and replace that long piece on the end with another pattern.

    Hi Angie
I am a mediocre guilted, not advanced! I think you have too many prints going on, your eye doesn’t have ant place to rest. Mix some plain colors in and mix it up. Some brights and some softer colors. They don’t have to be the same colors….just in the color family. I hope I’m making sense. Really cute fabric!

    Hi Angie,
I agree with Mary, I think you should try adding more solids too. The print is very busy. I just purchased the Paw patch jelly roll and Paw patch charm pack plus an assorted jelly roll to go along with the Paw patch line to make my log cabin quilt.
    Have a nice day.

Angie, this is just my opinion. I think it will be adorable especially with
vanilla sashing when it is all together. Little people like busy things to
    look at.
