My picture today is the current quilt I’m working on …. placed on my Design Wall.
It looks a little rough at the moment … but I can see it’s going to be a beauty!!
I’m using the LuLu Roses by Tanya Whelan for Free Spirit fabric that I purchased at Prairie Point Quilt & Fabric Shop. They’re right down the road from one of my doctors and I stop in every chance I get. This entire fabric line was at the very front of the store and I walked in and said “I’ll take a yard of each” … I wasn’t sure what I was going to make but the fabric said “Buy Me”!
I’m kinda sorta using an idea I saw on the Missouri Quilt Company website … they used One Jelly Roll and One Charm Pack. I’m not making the quilt they made …but what I am doing is using a Jelly Roll (white) for my sashing (that would be the first time I have used the word sashing).
Here’s what I’ve done so far …
- Cut one 7″ strip of each pattern of fabric.
- Cut six 6-1/2 x 6-1/2 squares of each pattern using the AccuQuilt Machine along with the 6-1/2 square die.
- The long white strips are Bella Solid White Jelly Roll by Moda.
Next up …
I’ll continue to place my fabric where I like it best … then I’ll start sewing …. I think. Honestly this as far as I’ve gotten in my thinking process …but I’m sure it will come to me. I think I may have to cut all my Jelly Roll strips….. to attach to the 6-1/2 squares (right side and bottom of each square).
More explanation …
I used the AccuQuilt to cut my squares because it saves time and my arms!! I wanted my squares to be 7 x 7 …but there’s a 6-1/2 Square Die or an 8-1/2 Square Die …. I went with the 6-1/2 this time … and maybe my next one I’ll use the larger size.

p.s. a few ladies have ask me if they can cut fabric to make a Jelly Roll Quilt (instead of buying a Jelly Roll) the answer is yes … you need 40 strips of fabric that measure 2-1/2 x 44″.
