Soup for the sick

March 4, 2015 by Angie 6 Comments

My post today is going to be quick … it’s been a heck of a day!

The picture you see above is a soup I threw in the crock pot and if it turns out I’ll share the recipe … although … I didn’t measure a thing!    I was in a hurry and figured I can taste test it ….. and add ingredients if needed.

It has Italian sausage, potatoes, kale and a whole lot of dairy that I can’t eat ….but the family can.  (Actually I’ll have a little …. the stomach ache will be worth a few bites of it … I think!)

After only four or five hours of sleep last night  … Chase woke me up sick!  Not only with cold symptoms but also throwing up (yucky).

So, off we went to the walk in clinic …..he has what I have … Bronchitis.

The rest of the day was shot after that … three sick people in the house now … grrrr!

Dave will be going to walk in clinic tomorrow … so here’s a funny story for you.

He ask me to call the doctor for him today and get an appointment for tomorrow or Friday ….. so I did and the earliest they can see him is March 24th …. I laughed and said he’d be dead by then …I was joking of course and said no problem he’ll go to the walk in clinic tomorrow.  So, then I called Dave and he says “but did you tell them who I am?”  LOL  seriously dude I love you …but this time of year it’s walk in clinic or the ER.   Chase and I laughed for a good 20 minutes… in between coughs.  You gotta find the laughter where you can!!

I hope you’re all staying safe, warm and healthy!

See ya!

p.s. I’m sad to sad the joint pain returned today (left shoulder, arm and hand)  … I was really hoping it was going to stay gone at least through the steroids!!  I cried for a good 30 minutes, took a hot bath and then a nap.  Pain is a little less right this minute …..but I feel it coming back.  I’d hate to go to the er for pain but I was pretty darn close today.

Finished Quilts

It’s another cloudy day in Kansas today …. insert sad face!

But …. spring is around the corner … next week they’re saying it could be in the 60’s.

So, my picture today is of the stack of quilts I picked up from Shirley yesterday.

I honestly can’t wait to show you …. but we need to take the pictures once and it’s best to wait for a bright sunny day.

Two of these quilts are mine … and three are gifts  … but I’m gonna hang on to them until our house is germ free.  I don’t think you can send germs in the mail … but I’d like to admire them a little while longer anyway.

I’m sorry I forgot to post the Chic n Clique winners on March 1st … here’s the official announcement.

Congrats to these three ladies for winning one free month on Chic n Clique!! I’ve sent all three of you an email …. check your inbox.

I’m headed back to my office to do some paper crafting  … I hope I can whip out a bunch of projects real quick!

See ya!

Lulu Roses Butterfly Quilt Top

My Lulu Roses Butterfly Quilt Top is complete and it was delivered to my longarm quilter today.    (Sorry bad picture … cloudy day strikes again!!)

This quilt is going to my sister Kim … even though we made her a quilt top when she was here for Thanksgiving.  Every quilt I’ve finished   …..she asks me if it’s for her (sisters can say things like that to each other)  so I figured I’d make her another one …..that way I can move on to the rest of the family without feeling guilty.  (I should have kept her quilt top and had it finished …but in my defense I wanted her to catch the bug.)

It’s been a couple weeks since I touched my sewing machine …. I’m having withdrawals for sure!!

I picked up five of my quilts from my longarm quilter today … as soon as the sun comes out and we can get some pictures I’ll start sharing.  Three of them are headed out to friends … I’ll be honest and say it’s going to be hard to part with them.  I told Shirley today now I know what quilters hoard their quilts … they’re just so precious …. it’s hard to part with them … LOL

Business wise … I had a good weekend and was able to get lots of things done … but the sore throat reappeared today and I got very little accomplished (and now Chase and Dave are sick).

I started the Layer Cake Quilt Along on Chic n Clique and I posted Video #3 today … the next video should be posted later this week … I’m giving everyone plenty of time to do their homework.  If all goes well that means I’ll get to turn on my sewing machine later this week.

I’m headed upstairs for my bath and then bed …. See ya!

Chase’s Quilt

February 27, 2015 by Angie 7 Comments

My picture today is of Chase’s quilt … it turned out quite nice considering I really messed it up … several times!

I learned more on this quilt than any other!!

If you’ll remember I was posting small details as I was making it …but I soon lost track of where I went wrong and how to fix it.

So, I stopped posting pictures …  I was even tempted to rip it apart …but Chase kept saying he liked it … mistakes and all.

Here’s a list of some of my mistakes

  • I should have added sashing to the outside borders of the quilt.
  • The charm pack squares don’t look as nice as the Scallop Square …. next time I’ll cut down the charm packs using the Scallop Square Die.
  • I cut the Jelly Roll fabric with the wrong measurement …..  one day I’ll make something with those pieces.
  • If I made this quilt again … I would turn all the squares in one direction … instead of making them squares on one row …. and diamonds on the next.

I have to say that the Stipple Quilting saved it and Chase loves it!!  Between you and I … I’m making him another quilt later this year!!
