Quilt Top Complete

August 21, 2015 by Angie 4 Comments

Layer-Cake-Quilt-1

Another Quilt Top is complete!!

But …. I have a few things I need to tweak before I can share how I made it.

I suspected when I started sewing that I was going to run into an issue … and I did.

I think I have a fix … the only way to know is to make another and see if it works.

I thought about asking someone that’s sewn for years and years to help me  … but I’d rather just figure it out myself.
I have two different ideas on how to fix it … I’m hoping the first way does it!

Layer-Cake-Quilt2

It’s pretty much a square quilt … 72 x 73 ….. so I turned it both ways to take a picture.

See ya!

p.s. I’m trying to use my stash of fabric … I’ve found that fabric is like Designer Series Paper and you tend to hoard it.

New Quilt in the Works

August 20, 2015 by Angie 3 Comments

I’ve started a NEW quilt and it’s either going to be a brilliant idea …. or a really bad one.

When the idea came to me …. I thought it was brilliant … but …… the more I sew … the more I question myself.

I tried to plan it all out on paper ….. but my brain just doesn’t work that way.

So, I cut all my fabric … now I’m sewing ….. we shall see in a few days … or a week.

I’m anxious to see if it’s going to work …but ….I’m severely behind on my to do list!!!!

I had a doctors appointment today … and I always come home totally exhausted …. that just means no work today (Bella and I are gonna take a nap soon).

If I can get all my projects designed and filmed for next week …. I will work on it.

How do you like that?

I force myself to get all my work done …..before I allow myself some sewing time (I feel like a child at times).

Verna Butterfly Quilt

I wrapped up the  Butterfly Quilt ….. and it’s ready for the longarm quilter.

I filmed a video while making it ….. my goal to have the video ready is two weeks.

Modern Folkloric Double Scoops Quilt

The Modern Folkloric Double Scoops Quilt is complete.

Technically you can call it a Jelly Roll Quilt  …but because of the brand of fabric …. it’s called a Double Scoop instead of a Jelly Roll.

I love all the cute fabric names!!

I explained this quilt back a few months ago … and I didn’t want to show it until the person received it.  She received it yesterday.

Here’s a picture of the quilt top before I took it to the long arm quilter …..

I was at KU Medical for several hours yesterday (tests)  then I rushed home to pick up the house before the house cleaners came ….. and then Dave and I went to the awesome Royals game.

I’m too tired to even think today.

See ya!

p.s. I’ll update the Health page as soon as I can a burst of energy (let’s pray that’s tomorrow morning).

Ambleside Quilt Top

April 28, 2015 by Angie 2 Comments

AmblesideFatQuarterQuiltc

The Ambleside Quilt Top is finally complete!

It took me longer than expected …. because I kept changing my mind.

I started with 5 Fat Quarters and then changed it to 7.

It measures 47 x 72 … crazy size I know!

Next time I’ll mix up the fabric and make it wider.

I could have added another row ….but I had already bought my backing fabric.

Next up … I’ll be taking this quilt to my longarm quilter.

Here are the posts about the Ambleside Quilt

  1. Ambleside Quilt Wip
  2. WIP

UPDATE

Here’s all the details for this quilt …..

  • Quilt measures:  47 x 72
  • Fabric Line:  Ambleside by Moda Fabrics
  • Fabric needed:  7 Fat Quarters & White Jelly Roll + backing and binding fabric
  • 7 rectangles/blocks across –  6 rectangles/blocks down.
  • 7 patterns of fabric – you need 6 rectangles of each pattern.
  • Each Rectangle measures:  5 x 10
  • Attach a white 2-1/2 x 5 rectangle to the bottom of each 5 x 10 rectangle.
  • 10 Sashing Strips (I used White Jelly Roll Strips)
Special Notes
  • Attach a 2-1/2 x 5 white strip to the bottom of each rectangle (except bottom row – that will be a long sashing strip)

See ya!
