Juki Sewing Machine

April 1, 2015 by Angie 10 Comments

Jukib

I have fallen in LOVE with my Juki TL-2010Q sewing machine.

And to be honest I’m not sure why … but I think it may be the ease in which it sews a straight line.

I love all my sewing machines but I’ve noticed that this one does not pull to the left or to the right … which leads me to believe that it’s possible my other machines need a tune up.  I oil them frequently so I know that’s not the problem.

My question for all of you is … what kind of sewing machine do you have … what do you love about it ….. share your pros and cons.

I’ll go first …

Pros  …. it’s fast and accurate and the sound is very pleasant (I have sensory issues so the sound is very important).

Cons …. how to thread it requires me to watch a video every single time.  And the tension can be a little tricky … which scares me because I’ve never touched the tension on my other machines.  If you’re wondering how I knew my tension was all wrong … the thread underneath was all bunched up … it was a scary site!!

Now for a bit of personal stuff … I spent half my day dealing with heath stuff ….. doctors office, more bloodwork and a ultrasound …. I suspect a cat scan next and then next week the yucky stuff (we won’t mention any of those words).  My most recent issue is I’ve developed a large mass on my neck … the mass itself does not hurt …but all around it does.  Yesterday the pain was at a 8 or 9…. today I’m at a 5 or 6.

Here’s a picture of Miss Bella ….. when I got home from the tests I needed to lay down and take a nap … and she decided she had to climb on top of me.  She always does that when I don’t feel good…. if only she knew that she was hurting me.   I love her too much to tell  her!!

Instantly Ageless … I’m super excited to say that I’ve gotten emails from five different ladies that the Instantly Ageless worked just like I said it would.   I don’t use it when I’m sticking around the house …but every time I leave …. I apply it…. and each and every time …  I’m amazed!  When I’m feeling better I’ll add some more info about it … along with the other products (I LOVE the smell of the cleanser!!!).

See ya!

Atelier Jelly Roll Quilt

March 30, 2015 by Angie Leave a Comment

Maggiesquiltb

My post today is Maggie’s quilt and we shipped it out today.

I used the Atelier Jelly Roll 3 Sisters for Moda Fabric and you saw the Quilt Top back when I finished it.

I wish I could say I just finished this quilt …. because that would mean I’ve been sewing …. but sadly I have not.

A week ago today  … .. I hit a snag …. and the rest of the  week followed suit.  I swear … when it rains it pours!!!

Now that a few of the snags have been fixed … I’m in catch up mode.  Physically and mentally I need to be able to check some boxes (aka get stuff done) so that I can breathe a little easier.

If you requested a sample of Instantly Ageless or ordered a sample … they’ve officially been mailed out.  And yes, they are packaged in my cute little holder …. now that I say that I think I forgot to post the picture last week …so here it is…..

I have two videos to edit by tomorrow morning …. and I need a nap in a big big way!

See ya!

Organizing Fabric

March 26, 2015 by Angie 6 Comments

My picture today is not very exciting …. but … I have committed to re-organizing our house in 2015.

My goal is to spend at least one to two hours per week.

I’ve made a lot of progress … in some areas … and every time I start to organize my old fabric I decide the job is too big and I move on to something else.  Plus organizing my old fabric isn’t near as exciting as playing (organizing) my pre-cut fabric (currently stashed in my dining room … some in my computer cabinet and some in my rolling cart from Ikea).

So … my picture is attempt number three to get some kind of system (for my old fabric) I have more …. not shown in the picture.

Here are some of my issues:

  • I want to keep all the fabric organized by color (green, pink, blue, brown).
  • I want to keep all the fabric designs together (for example all the Blush Fabric).
  • Fat Quarters, Layer Cakes, Jelly Rolls, etc (different sizes)
  • Xmas Fabric
  • Baby Fabric
  • Flannel
  • Kits (I can safely say I’m done with buying quilt kits …. I’ve bought several through the years and never made a single one)

I have all the Fat Quarters in the plastic container … eventually it will be organized by color!

As I’m typing this I can feel myself back pedaling … do I really want to tackle this beast?

I’m pretty sure I do …. so maybe next week I’ll share the end result … and if you don’t see anything …. just know that I’ll revisit it again in 2015.

See ya!

p.s. If you quilt or sew … how do you organize your fabric?

Modern Folkloric Double Scoops

My picture today is some new fabric …. it’s the Modern Folkloric Double Scoops.

I get super excited when new fabric arrives in this house!!    Much like how I feel when I receive product from a NEW Stampin’ Up! Catalog (new catalog is in a few months and the excitement is starting).

This beautiful fabric is for a friend that is going through a painful situation at the moment… I won’t mention any names but we’ve been friends for many years!   Her and her hubby are so  kinda & delightful!!  I pray for her family every night and several times a day. I hope a jelly roll quilt will bring her some comfort!! (I hope I can get it completed in the next 30 days.)

I’ve not touched my sewing much this month …. with the exception of the Layer Cake Quilt Along (I’m behind) and I miss it something terribly.  I should have sewn yesterday …. it was one of those days that everything went wrong!!

Blog Candy Winner

Congrats Diane T!! your name was drawn to win the  Layer Cake. Please email Laura your mailing address and we’ll get it in the mail asap ([email protected]).  I use a random number generator to choose the winner.
