  • One Jelly Roll (40 strips that measure 2-1/2 x 44)
  • 4-1/2 Yards of Backing Fabric
  • 1/2 Yard of Binding Fabric
  • Quilt measures:  53 x 63

Please make sure you watch Video #1 before you watch Video #2.

In Video #2:

  1. Pick up the end of the first strip and the beginning of the 2nd strip, place them right sides together and sew a 1/4 seam down the right side.
  2. When you reach the end … lift foot on sewing machine and pull back just a tad, giving  you room to sew the next one.
  3. Pick up the end of the 2nd strip and the beginning of the 3rd strip, place right sides together and sew 1/4 seam down the right side (left foot and pull the strips back giving you room to sew the next one).
  4. Pick up the end of the 3rd strip and the beginning of the 4th strip, place right sides together and sew 1/4 seam down the right side (left foot and pull the strips back giving you room to sew the next one).
  5. Repeat this to the very end.
  6. When you reach the end you will need to snip the threads where you sewed then together.
  7. Find both ends of your long strip (1600″).
  8. Take the beginning of the first strip and the end of the last strip, place them right sides together and sew 1/4 seam down the right side.
  9.  Stop often and make sure your fabric is straight.
  10. This step will take a while.

Testing the new Quilt Along Series

November 9, 2015 by Angie 1 Comment

I just wanted to check in real quick and let you know that although I’m not posting on this site … I’m working behind the scenes …..  on the next Quilt Along Series.

I want to make sure I can teach you How to make a Quilt … correctly … just as I do on my papercrafting videos.

So, the first order of business is:

  • Find an easy quilt.
  • Make one.
  • If it turns out good … we’ll make it together.

I will always do a test one first because I can live with ruining my fabric … but not yours!

I’ll go back to the drawing board if it doesn’t turn out right.

I’m in the testing phase of a Fence Rail Quilt.

fencerailquilttestphase

Testing phase is a good word for the fact that I spent over two  hours trying to figure out how to place my fabric. It finally hit me … but the process was slow (sometimes I scare myself).

Yesterday I began the actual sewing of the strips …. and now I’m ready for pressing the fabric.  After pressing …. I’ll be cutting.

BUT … I’m leaving for Dallas on Thursday (Stampin’ Up! event)  … so once again everything goes on hold.

When I return … I’ll do my best to get it going … but it’s safe to say we’ll skip doing a Quilt Along in November.

Next subject … Kansas City Royals … I could write a whole book on all the games I went to in October.  Every time I wanted to do a blog post I couldn’t because I didn’t know where to start.  So, long story short …. I had the most amazing time at all the post season games and I am truly blessed to have such an opportunity!  At some point I may revisit this subject and share a ton of pictures … but those too need to be organized before I can get started!

Have a wonderful day!!
