Quilts In Process

August 15, 2015 by Angie 4 Comments

workingon3quiltsa

I’m working on two quilts at the moment ….

I’m wrapping up Kim’s quilt … just need to finish ironing the rows and attach them.

The 2nd quilt is … I’m filming a video on how to make the Butterfly Quilt … I’m half way done.  Thank you for requesting it!!

I’m about to start a third quilt.

I woke up with an idea … and I’ll admit  I’m a tad afraid!!   I may not be thinking it all the way through … but you never know.

I’m looking for another Go To Quilt … I’ve done so many Jelly Roll Race Quilts that I could do them in my sleep …. and I’m looking for another one …. one that is so easy you don’t have to look at the instructions.    If my idea works …. I’ll have two go to quilts!

Next month I’m traveling to Saint George, Utah for Founders Circle and I’ve decided to take my sewing machine.   I can talk and sew at the same time!!

See ya!

The next Butterfly Quilt

Kims-butterfly-quilta

I’m happy to say that I actually used my sewing machine today!

I made a deal with myself … and then I cheated.

I decided that if I could get everything done on my to do list  … I would reward myself with an hour of sewing.

Turns out I decided to do it in reverse … and now I’m ready for a nap.

All I can say is ,,,,,,thank goodness it’s Saturday!! Technically I only work Monday through Friday (you and I both know I find myself working on weekends …but it’s very sporadic).

This is another Butterfly Quilt and it has my sister Kim’s name on it.  It’s been hanging on my design wall since April?  That reminds me I have a few quilts I need to pick up from my longarm quilter.

I’m fixin to make myself a cup of coffee and take a nap (hope I wake up energized to film four videos)!!

See ya!

p.s.  The injections they gave me for pain … are no longer working.   I’m counting the days until I see them again (in 2 weeks)!  Also I waited to sew until after my pain returned … I wanted to make sure it wasn’t aggravating the issue by using my sewing machine.  whew!!!

Modern Folkloric Double Scoops Quilt

May 1, 2015 by Angie 2 Comments

The Modern Folkloric Double Scoops Quilt is complete.

Technically you can call it a Jelly Roll Quilt  …but because of the brand of fabric …. it’s called a Double Scoop instead of a Jelly Roll.

I love all the cute fabric names!!

I explained this quilt back a few months ago … and I didn’t want to show it until the person received it.  She received it yesterday.

Here’s a picture of the quilt top before I took it to the long arm quilter …..

I was at KU Medical for several hours yesterday (tests)  then I rushed home to pick up the house before the house cleaners came ….. and then Dave and I went to the awesome Royals game.

I’m too tired to even think today.

See ya!

p.s. I’ll update the Health page as soon as I can a burst of energy (let’s pray that’s tomorrow morning).

Ambleside Quilt Top

April 28, 2015 by Angie 2 Comments

AmblesideFatQuarterQuiltc

The Ambleside Quilt Top is finally complete!

It took me longer than expected …. because I kept changing my mind.

I started with 5 Fat Quarters and then changed it to 7.

It measures 47 x 72 … crazy size I know!

Next time I’ll mix up the fabric and make it wider.

I could have added another row ….but I had already bought my backing fabric.

Next up … I’ll be taking this quilt to my longarm quilter.

Here are the posts about the Ambleside Quilt

  1. Ambleside Quilt Wip
  2. WIP

UPDATE

Here’s all the details for this quilt …..

  • Quilt measures:  47 x 72
  • Fabric Line:  Ambleside by Moda Fabrics
  • Fabric needed:  7 Fat Quarters & White Jelly Roll + backing and binding fabric
  • 7 rectangles/blocks across –  6 rectangles/blocks down.
  • 7 patterns of fabric – you need 6 rectangles of each pattern.
  • Each Rectangle measures:  5 x 10
  • Attach a white 2-1/2 x 5 rectangle to the bottom of each 5 x 10 rectangle.
  • 10 Sashing Strips (I used White Jelly Roll Strips)
Special Notes
  • Attach a 2-1/2 x 5 white strip to the bottom of each rectangle (except bottom row – that will be a long sashing strip)

See ya!
