1st Jelly Roll Quilt

March 22, 2015 by Angie 7 Comments

cherish-nature-quilt-bfinal

This is my very first Jelly Roll Race Quilt and if you look real closely you can see I failed to remove the 18″ at the end (if you don’t remove the 18″ …. all your seams will likely be in the same spot on each row).

It’s still a beautiful quilt …. and I’m keeping it for sentimental reasons (it was my 1st)  click here to read the original blog post about my Jelly Roll Race Quilt back in January.

I used the Deb Strain Cherish Nature by Moda Fabric and it was in my stash of fabric I bought years ago … (I’ve looked and can’t find it available).

Here’s a picture showing the backing fabric …

Lulu Roses Butterfly Quilt

My picture today is the Lulu Roses Butterfly Quilt … excuse my picture!

It’s raining for two days straight and I decided to share a less than perfect picture …. I can’t wait any longer 🙂

This quilt measures 57 x 72.

It was supposed to be larger ….but I messed up!  If you’ll remember my blocks started out as 8-1/2 squares …but I cut them without paying attention the direction of the grain and that resulted in some of my blocks stretching (can you tell this part of quilting continues to confuse me).    To correct the mistake I squared up my blocks and they measure 7 inches.

Click here to read more information about cutting fabric with  your Accuquilt Fabric Cutting System.

One note about cutting the butterflies … when I’m cutting butterflies, flowers, squares, circles .. etc.  I don’t pay attention to the grain because I’m doing a raw edge applique.   I’ve made a ton of them and they all turn out beautiful!!!

Click here to see all the posts on the Lulu Roses Butterfly Quilt.

When the sun comes out and Brooke has time …. we will take more pictures and post them.   (The quilt is white …but with the cloudy skies is looks cream).

Layer Cake Quilt Along – I posted Video #10 of the Layer Cake Quilt Along on Chic n Clique today … I can’t believe it’s almost over.   I’m for sure doing another one!!

Longarm Quilter – If you emailed me about my longarm quilter finishing your quilts ….. I spoke with her on Monday and she said yes, she does offer long distance service ….. in fact she has several ladies that sends their quilts to her.  If you would like her info please leave a comment or send me an email.

See ya!

p.s. I have my doctors appointment today and I’m a nervous wreck!!

Jelly Roll Race Quilt

If you watched my Jelly Roll Race Quilt video ….. this is the quilt I made during the filming.

I picked it up from my longarm quilter today.

I’ll post the video again … for those of you that missed it.

The fabric is:  MISS KATE BY BONNIE AND CAMILLE by Moda

This quilt measures 54 x 64 and at the moment I’m still trying to figure out which family member I’m sending it to … or maybe I should keep it since I filmed a video.

I was just saying today that I’m having a hard time parting with these quilts ….. I hope that’s normal!

See ya!
