Stack of Quilts

stack-of-quilts-dec-2015

These are the Quilt Tops I took to the long arm quilter last week.

There are eight of them …. all but two are gifts.

  1. Ambleside Jelly Roll Quilt – Kathy
  2. Butterfly Quilt – Kim
  3. Mixed Bag Layer Cake Quilt – Ronnie
  4. Ambleside Layer Cake Quilt  – me
  5. Jelly Roll Quilt – Mallory
  6. Hello Darling Double Slice Layer Cake Quilt  – me
  7. Jelly Roll Quilt – Cora
  8. Jelly Roll Quilt – Savanna

And … here they are finished …  they are so beautiful!  It’s a good thing I already told them that they were getting a quilt …. otherwise I might find a reason to keep them for myself!

I’ll take pictures of each quilt … before I ship them out and I’ll be sure to post them here for you to see.

Jelly Roll Race Quilt Along

I’ve wrapped up video three and the four and they both will be posted next week.   This series only has 4 videos. Over the weekend I’m going to try to wrap up my warm up quilt for the next Quilt Along. (I need to make a couple before I can teach how to make them.)

Have a great day!

  • One Jelly Roll (40 strips that measure 2-1/2 x 44)
  • 4-1/2 Yards of Backing Fabric
  • 1/2 Yard of Binding Fabric
  • Quilt measures:  53 x 63

Please make sure you watch Video #1 before you watch Video #2.

In Video #2:

  1. Pick up the end of the first strip and the beginning of the 2nd strip, place them right sides together and sew a 1/4 seam down the right side.
  2. When you reach the end … lift foot on sewing machine and pull back just a tad, giving  you room to sew the next one.
  3. Pick up the end of the 2nd strip and the beginning of the 3rd strip, place right sides together and sew 1/4 seam down the right side (left foot and pull the strips back giving you room to sew the next one).
  4. Pick up the end of the 3rd strip and the beginning of the 4th strip, place right sides together and sew 1/4 seam down the right side (left foot and pull the strips back giving you room to sew the next one).
  5. Repeat this to the very end.
  6. When you reach the end you will need to snip the threads where you sewed then together.
  7. Find both ends of your long strip (1600″).
  8. Take the beginning of the first strip and the end of the last strip, place them right sides together and sew 1/4 seam down the right side.
  9.  Stop often and make sure your fabric is straight.
  10. This step will take a while.

Jelly Roll Race Quilt Along

Jelly Roll Race Quilt Along

It’s official …… the next Quilt Along is the Jelly Roll Race Quilt.

I’ve created a Chic n Scratch Quilt Along  Facebook group for you to ask questions … if you are not on Facebook … please do not worry … you are welcome to post your questions here on this blog (Facebook Group is the same as the Double Slice Layer Cake Quilt Along).

All the videos and instructions will be posted on this site.  The Facebook group is just to make it easier to ask questions and to share pictures.

Here’s the links to the videos:

  1. Click here to watch Video #1

  2. Click here to watch Video #2

  3. Click here to watch Video #3

  4. Click here to watch Video #4

Details

  • All the videos will be posted here on angiejuda.com
  • When the series is over I’ll post it on Chic n Scratch …but not until all the videos are complete.
  • This quilt is 53 x 63 (throw size).

Supply List

  • One Jelly Roll or Rolie Polies (different names for different companies).
  • A Jelly Roll is 4o strips of fabric that measure 2-1/2 x  44.  If you want to cut your fabric …but I’ll warn you the Jelly Rolls have a lot of different patterns .. in fact there are only a few repeats.
  • Matching Thread
  • 4-1/2 Yards of backing fabric
  • 1/2 Yard of Binding Fabric
  • Batting if your longarm quilter does not provide it.
  • Rotary Cutter
  • Ruler Grid
  • Seam Ripper (for just in case)
  • Sewing Machine
  • 1/4 Foot with Guide
  • Cutting Mat
  • Iron and ironing board or pad
  • Starch
  • If you do not have a long arm quilter to finish your quilt …. please call or visit your local fabric store and ask them.  They usually will have several business cards of local ladies that offer long arm quilting.

I choose to make the Jelly Roll Race Quilt for our next Quilt Along because I’ve had several people ask me to re-film the Jelly Roll Quilt with smaller steps (instead of one long video).

Have a great day!
