From Bump to Baby by Moda

July 21, 2016 by Angie 7 Comments

I’m going to make one more Fat Quarter Quilt using the Fat Quarter Quilt Along pattern.

And then I’m moving on to my next idea (also using Fat Quarters).

If you’re like me ….

  1. you have maybe a hundred or so Fat Quarters … how can you resist buying them when they’re so cute and affordable?
  2. you never make anything with them.

So, my focus for this month is using those Fat Quarters!!

Here’s the fabric for my purple version … using From Bump to Baby Fabric.

Missouri Quilt Company

Missouri Quilt Company
MissouriStarQuilt

I’m thrilled to share that I drove to Missouri Star Quilt Company today!!

I live about 90 minutes away and this was my first trip … but it will not be my last!!!

It was so amazing and I can’t wait to go back!

I began at the main shop that I’ve been told will only be the welcome center in the future (June maybe).  I did not take a picture of the inside (under construction a little) but I did make a purchase.

Next I crossed the street and visited …..

  • Machine Shed – bought some thread
  • Licensed to Sew – almost bought Chase some Star Wars fabric
  • Penney’s Quilt Shop – bought some Moda solid Jelly Rolls
  • Kids & Baby Quilt Shop – bought a lot!!!
  • Modern Fabric Quilt Shop – bought a few items
  • Backing Shop
  • Seasonal Shop – wanted to buy something but held back for next time!
  • MansLand – took a peek inside …  there were actually men in there 🙂
  • Batik Boutique – walked in but did not purchase

Here’s my haul …..

My next picture is one my favorites (I’m kicking myself that I didn’t take my real camera).  All that fabric in one place … I sure wish I lived closer!  But I know ….. I’m blessed to be driving distance from them.

My last picture is one I took for Chase … he is a huge Star Wars fan and when I saw the Storm Trooper … I had to take a picture.

Sadly I did not see Jenny in any of the stores  … maybe next time I will ask.

I’d like to end with  ….. their customer service was awesome!  Every single person that worked there was so very lovely and I even chatted with a couple of them about the Royals.

See ya!

Bricks Quilt Along

December 17, 2015 by Angie 2 Comments

Our Bricks Quilt Along will start in January and here’s a picture of my fabric selection.

Bricks-Quilt-Along-fabric

  • Layer Cake – Windermere Brenda Riddle Designs Acorn Quilt & Gift Company by Moda Fabric
  • Charm Pack (2 of them) Bella Solid White

For the Bricks Quilt you will need:

  • One Layer Cake
  • Two Charm Packs (solid color that matches Layer Cake).   For example I’m using Bella Solid White Charm Packs because it matches the Windermere Brenda Riddle Designs Moda Fabric.
  • I purchased 5 yards of backing fabric… but you could get by with 4-1/2.  I may add another row to mine if the fabric allows it.  My last Brick Quilt was 14 rows but that was because the fabric did not allow me to add another row (there were several solids pieces that could not be used because I couldn’t add a solid to a solid).
  •  1/2 yard of binding fabric.

Quilt measures:  64 x 72  if you make it 14 rows.  If we add another row it could be larger.  It really just depends on the Layer Cake.

You may want to also have on hand the Numbered Pins (you could use the Alphabitties ….but they don’t stick to the fabric).  I designed the Quilt on my Design Wall and after moving it around several times I found the design I liked best.

Here’s a picture of my first Bricks Quilt Top.

After moving the pieces around I decided to make each row a specific color.  There were 3 rows of sand rectangles, 3 rows of red, 3 of navy, 3 of ivory and 2 light blue … each row had five rectangles for a total of 70.

If you’re like me … all these words can confuse you.  If that’s the case … please do not worry! I will explain all of it in my videos so that you can understand.
